Dr. David Gitlin not only specializes in difficult limb salvage and reconstruction procedures but in many elective procedures as well in the lower extremity. We perform elective surgery in both adult and children and occasionally infants if necessary.
Sports injuries are of particular interest, we enjoy working with athletes both professional as well as occasional weekend sportsman and sportswoman. In many cases bracing, physical therapy and injection therapy may resolve issues but we do have a significant number of ankle sprains, ankle instability, ligamant tears and tendon tears ( especially the achilles tendon ) that require surgical intervention. In these cases we use minimal incision surgery with the use of miniature cameras and arthroscopy and tendonoscopy equipment. The now popular PRP and stem cell injections are use but only in specific cases where we know there will be a benefit from the treatment for the patient.
We treat all difficult to DIAGNOSE problems, surch as microscopic stress fracture and occult bone fracture invisible to xray equipment. In many cases patients come in after seeing many other doctors with no obvious diagnosis, Dr. Gitlin is a diagnostician of bone, nerve and muscle pathology of the lower extremity as well. Give us a call we will try our best to help.
